From the early years in preschool to the culminating experiences in 8th grade, St. Mary’s School offers a well-rounded and dynamic curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. Our preschool program focuses on the fundamental skills necessary for academic and social success, providing a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and social development.
As students progress through the grades, they engage in increasingly complex and challenging coursework that builds upon their previous knowledge and skills. Our elementary and middle school programs emphasize the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills, preparing students for high school and beyond.
As a Catholic school, faith formation is integral to our educational philosophy. St. Mary’s School is an extension of the parish family of St. Mary of the Presentation Catholic Church of Breckenridge, St. Thomas Church of Kent, and St. Gall Church of Tintah. While we practice the Catholic faith, we warmly welcome children of all Christian denominations. Daily religious instruction and prayer are central to our curriculum, fostering a safe and caring school community rooted in Christian values. Our religious standards are aligned with the Catholic Faith Formation standards adopted by the Diocese of St. Cloud.
Students at St. Mary’s School participate in weekly Mass on Wednesdays, small group masses, and student-led prayer services throughout the year. Additionally, students periodically have opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In the 2nd grade, students prepare for the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation, with parents playing a vital role in supporting their child's spiritual development at home.
At St. Mary’s School, assessment is critical to effective instruction and student learning. We use the NWEA/Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments, administered twice yearly to all kindergarten through 8th grade students. These assessments help us track student growth and proficiency in reading and math, guiding our instructional practices and measuring our progress toward school-wide goals.
Our Accelerated Reading program, accessible at school and home through Renaissance Home Connect, further supports literacy development for kindergarten through 8th grade students. Teachers assign passwords, and reading records become part of the comprehensive assessment process.
We value the partnership between parents and educators in supporting each child's academic journey. Progress reports are issued four times a year, and parent-teacher conferences are held twice annually to discuss each student’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth. These conferences are a collaborative effort to ensure that every child receives personalized attention and support tailored to their unique needs.
St. Mary’s School is dedicated to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, grow spiritually, and contribute positively to their communities. We invite you to explore the vibrant educational experience that awaits your child at St. Mary’s School.
